My Week With Marilyn - Day 2: Working Women Wonders

Stunning Monroe!

"I don't mind living in a man's world as long as I can be a woman in it."
- Marilyn Monroe

The pressure of being a lady in the modern world is not very different from the 1950’s, the miniscule variation is that women no matter their occupation dressed as ladies and made every attempt to look glamorous. Since the war women of the fifties were juggling marriage, motherhood and their careers at exceptional levels whilst making a conscious effort to look feminine and act as a lady. The time we live in now could not be any more different, for starters women are wearing trousers and are building careers on what used to be male dominated roles. More women are also running the family home alone, plus bringing home the bacon, cooking it and recycling the uneaten contents before work the very next day.

"Being a sex symbol is a heavy load to carry, especially when one is tired, hurt and bewildered."
- Marylin Monroe

The question is how many women today are putting on a brave face and relying on that girlie outlook to prove to the world that everything is okay? Are we using our clothes as a canvas to promote a fabulous well being to help ourselves feel wonderful at a time when we're grafting an exhausted mule! It’s been reported that Ms Monroe took three-and a half hours to get ready, sitting in hair and makeup, whilst preparing a transmission of wild energy that would fill others with pleasure. Does this ring any bells?

"I don't want to make money, I just want to be wonderful."
- Marylin Monroe

Marilyn Monroe is an immense motivation that inspires most women of today, with her “Go get ‘em” attitude and her winning signature smile. Monroe continues to live in women of today with pouting lips, short curls, and curvaceous figure hugging dresses

Although we are physically far from the fifties, we're actually closer than you can ever imagine, ‘My Week with Marilyn’ focuses on the week Monroe came to London for a break from her Hollywood entourage and the pressures of her work. Although this movie depicts a time in which she attempts to escape her stressful working life, one key priority for this late Hollywood star is that everyday was a day to look effortlessly fabulous.

"I don't know who invented high heels, but all women owe him a lot."
- Marilyn Monroe
